Founded in 2008, ROTOCON is a family-owned business led by Michael Aengenvoort and his sons Pascal, Patrick and Marco — all qualified mechanical engineers raised within the industry. From the outset, the vision was clear: to design, build and deliver high-performance machinery while offering true turnkey solutions tailored to each customer’s environment.

A heritage of engineering and innovation
ROTOCON’s legacy traces back to 1977 when Michael Aengenvoort entered the label industry and became a shareholder in ROTOFLEX International, helping establish it as a European market leader.
Following the sale of ROTOFLEX to Mark Andy in 2008, the Aengenvoort family launched ROTOCON in South Africa. In parallel, Marco co-founded ROTOCONTROL in Germany, building it into an internationally respected brand for inspection and slitter/rewinder technology before returning to lead ROTOCON as its Europe Managing Director in 2024. This heritage of innovation and leadership defines the ROTOCON DNA today.
A true global brand
Headquartered in Hamburg and Cape Town, with operations in Durban, Johannesburg, Europe, and Asia, ROTOCON combines global manufacturing capability with strong regional presence.
In 2009, ROTOCON expanded in South Africa through the distribution of finishing solutions and strategic partnerships with leading global suppliers, now representing 15 premium narrow web brands. In 2016, the company established Johannesburg as the manufacturing hub for ROTOCON’s tooling division, producing solid rotary dies, print cylinders and accessories, strengthened by the addition of a Haas VF3 CNC centre in 2018.
The introduction of the ECOLINE range in 2017 positioned ROTOCON as a manufacturer of high-performance, cost-effective finishing, converting and flexo printing systems that are compact, user-friendly and equipped for remote diagnostics. In 2016, ROTOCON Europe was founded in Hamburg to distribute the ECOLINE range across the continent, offering equipment demonstrations, factory acceptance testing and comprehensive customer support.
Turnkey solutions engineered for performance
ROTOCON delivers complete turnkey solutions — from consultation and machine configuration to installation, training and aftermarket service. More than 800 inspection slitter rewinders, over 100 flexo presses, 150 die-cutting and hybrid lines, 70 pharmaceutical inspection lines, and 60 booklet and ECL machines have been installed worldwide. In one notable partnership, over 240 machines were installed for a single customer.
With a global team of 100 employees and more than 500 partners, ROTOCON ensures seamless integration of equipment into customer production environments.
